
Jeffrey
L. Jocks
Associate with the firm, Jeff specializes in environmental and
land use law. He attended Michigan State University College of Law
where he graduated summa cum laude and second in his class. He was
also a member of the Michigan State Law Review where he acted as
Managing Editor of Competitions and Student Writing.
While attending law school, Jeff received Juris Prudence Awards
in the following classes: Civil Procedure II, Constitutional Law
II, Decedents Estates and Trusts, Basic Income Tax, Natural Resources
Law, Constitutional Law: Free Expression, Administrative Law, and
Problem-Solving Approaches to Conflict. He also received: The Helen
G. Buchanan Award for the full-time student who was most proficient
in the study of the law of evidence for 2002-2003; The Amy D. Bloomer
Award for the highest ranking member of the first-year class for
2001-2002; The Louis J. Columbo Award for academic excellence for
2001-2002; The Rodney Martin Lockwood Memorial Scholarship Award
for outstanding work in Property for 2001-2002; The Harold Norris
Writing Award for the best examination paper in the course of Criminal
Law for 2001-2002.
Before joining Olson, Bzdok & Howard, Jeff was as a Law Clerk for
the United States Attorney in the Western District of Michigan and
an extern for the Michigan Attorney General-Consumer Protection
Division. Prior to law school Jeff received a Bachelors of Science
in Packaging with an environmental specialization from Michigan
State University and worked as a Packaging Engineer for three and
one half years.
Jeff is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.
Jeff authored an article titled "The Right of Access to Deportation
Hearings: A Threat to National Security or a Threat to Constitutional
Rights?", 2004 Mich. St. DCL L. Rev. 165.
